Skateboarding throughout the years has seen its ups and downs throughout its long history. It has crashed at times and also has seen its major rises in popularity. The same can be said with skateboarding companies as well. From board makers to skate clothing companies, some have stood the test of time and others haven’t been so lucky.
While companies like Grind King and LRG making comebacks, some companies haven’t been so lucky. While their are many other skateboarding companies that have went under throughout the years, we have compiled a list of five companies who have had a personal impact to us that we hope one day come back. In no particular order, here are five skateboarding companies that we would like to see rise from the dead.
Hawk Shoes:
Hawk Shoes was a Tony Hawk shoe brand that existed in the late 90’s and early 2000’s. The team consisted of not only Mr. Hawk, but also other street skateboarders like Tyler Bledsoe. The logo was cool and no matter what type of skater you were, there was a shoe for you. Hawk Shoes eventually ended with Tony Hawk eventually ending up on Lakai before settling on Vans.
Adio Shoes:
Adio Shoes was one of the biggest skateboarding brands in the early 2000’s for many reason. A big reason was because of the team which can be represented by their epic full length skateboarding movie “One Step Beyond.” The shoes were poofy and trendy at the time with Bam Margera’s shoe series being the ultimate must have skate shoe. Kenny Anderson and Jeremy Wray also both had unique shoes which sold like hotcakes. Eventually, the shoe trends changed once again leaving Adio Shoes empty handed and eventually kicking the bucket. This at one point was one of the most important core skateboarding brands and their impact has been everlasting
Fourstar Clothing:
Fourstar Clothing was a cool clothing company under the Crailtap distribution, the same distribution as Girl Skateboards, Chocolate Skateboards and much more. The company was founded in April 1996 and eventually stopped making clothes in late 2016. Some of pro skaters throughout the years on Fourstar included Ishod Wair, Mark Gonzales, Mike Carroll, Rick Howard, Tony Trujillio, Sean Malto and tons more. While we cannot figure out why the company went over, we know that it had some of raddest clothing and skaters
Phantom Trucks:
Phantom Trucks was a skateboarding company that reached peak popularity in the early 2000’s and were trucks that stood the test of time. If they were still around today, I’d even consider still giving them the shot. Our guess was that at the time, there were a lot of truck companies all competing with little money to be made. Either way, it felt necessary to pay homage.

Bootleg Skateboards:
Bootleg Skateboards was the original Deathwish Skateboards back in the day. They were a sister company to Baker Skateboards but ended up dying off early on. The company produced “Baker Bootleg” which is an impactful and memorable full length skateboarding film today.
