USA Announces 2020 Olympic Skateboard Team
The United States has announced its first ever USA Skateboarding Olympic Team. The Olympic skateboarding events will be taking place on July 26th, 27th 2020, and August 5th and 6th 2020. The competition will be broken into two events, Park and Street, as well as Men’s and Women’s. Skaters have been qualifying for there different countries teams through different international skateboarding competitions over the past year. All countries haven’t announced full skate teams but there’s a few more qualifying events before the Olympics begin.
The skateboarding park events will consist of two rounds, prelims and finals. The prelims will have four heats of five skaters with the eight highest scoring skaters progressing to the finals. Park skaters will be judged on three 45-second runs with their best run score being their final.
The street competition will also have a prelim round and a final round, with four heats of five skaters, and the eight highest scoring advancing to the finals. The street skaters will be judged on two 45-second runs and five tricks, and their four best scores are combined for their final score.
