The Washington County Fair has come and gone once again, and it was another amazing event. The weather was perfect for the week except the rain storm that lead to the fair closing on Wednesday, which they made up for by offering discounted prices for fairgoers on Thursday. From the carnival rides and games, demolition derbies, hundreds of animals, tractor pulls, and much more, the fair truly is a timeless event that has become a summertime staple in the hearts of many.

The fair highlights the huge agricultural industry found within Washington County. Local farmers come each year to showcase the milking process from udder to bottle, locally sourced goods like maple syrup and apple cider are available, artisans from the area set up their goods, making the fair a place for the community to come together that puts a spotlight on what this beautiful area has to offer.

Many families and friends have made going to the Washington County Fair an annual tradition. With the various food trucks offering summertime staples such as peppers and onions, funnel cake, corn dogs, and kettle corn, no one leaves the fair hungry. The rides and games offer entertainment for fairgoers of any age. There is an endless amount of educational information available at the fair, so people can learn more about where they live and what goes into the food they eat. There truly is something for everyone to enjoy at the fair.

The fair comes just as summer is coming to an end, making for the perfect weather and establishing it as an unofficial end to the season. As kids get ready to go back to school, and the busy season begins to slow, the fair is a great way to celebrate the season and all our area has to offer. The Washington County Fair is a nostalgic time for many and is undoubtedly a favorite event in Upstate New York.
