On July 12th, 2019 Formula 5’s Rock The Dock Music Festival returned to The Lake George Steamboat Company in Lake George, NY for the 3rd annual event. This year featured an extra stage so the crowd could enjoy a constant flow of music throughout the afternoon and into the evening. The lineup was also expanded, featuring West End Blend, JT Maple & Band, Eastbound Jesus, Mike Powell, Magic Beans, and Formula 5 for whom this would be their farewell performance. There was great weather and great music which allowed for a great night on the lake.

The festival gates opened at 4pm with local food, craft vendors, and games on site for concert attendees to enjoy. For this festival, The Lake George Steamboat Company positions the three historic steamboats around the main dock and allows attendees to climb on board where they have a great view of the stage, bathrooms, access to the boat’s bar, and an amazing view of Lake George opposite the main stage.

West End Blend was the first band to take the stage. This funk/soul band out of Hartford, CT kicked off the evening with a high energy set on the main stage. As the crowd was starting to fill up, JT Maple & Band kept the music going. James Woods of Formula 5 joined JT Maple for a great set. Next up was Eastbound Jesus, a rock/bluegrass band out of Greenwich, NY. Their upbeat set was followed by the first of two sets from Mike Powell. The Magic Beans then took the stage with a funk/rock set between Mike Powell’s performances.

Formula 5 was the headliner for the evening. This was their last performance before going on an indefinite hiatus. They’ve made quite a name for themselves over the past few years in the local jam scene, and it was clear many fans weren’t ready to say goodbye just yet. After several years of tours along the east and west coasts, Formula 5 has generated a great fanbase and at Rock The Dock that was very evident. This is the third year that they have hosted the Rock The Dock Music Festival, and it has become an amazing event in Lake George. The band gave their hometown crowd a night to remember with a high energy, jam filled set, which they opened with “Earthbound Tim” into “Booher’s Pass”. The group was playing really well with each other and kept the jams going with “Pedro” into “In The Sand” into “Come Along”. The band played “Trout Waters Pt 1 & 2” off of their All Points North album before ending the set with “Sad Bed” into “Gettin Tough Again”. Closing out the night, they encored with fan favorite “Breaking Glass”.

The festival was a success, yet again, thanks to Formula 5 and the Lake George Steamboat Company. Again, we would like to wish the members of Formula 5 all the best in whatever they go on to do and thank them for years of memories like these and amazing jams.
