To persons who have never heard them, the band has a tough time explaining what the band sounds like. As explained by bassist Matt Vicante, the band plays music that they enjoy and an audience will enjoy hearing. They have been at their craft for 26 years.
The band is Syracuse based but has played all over the country and in Europe. This is the first time they have played as a band in the 518.
The music can be best described by a lay person such as myself as groove related. The set consisted of mostly originals with one cover. The band’s present release, along with a future release were featured as well as tunes that have yet to see a recording studio.
The atmosphere of the set was truly casual with a lot of self deprecating humor . The band takes their music seriously, but not themselves,
Matt Vicante’s bass lines were truly inventive, John Magante’s guitar playing was subtly unpredictable, going from playing melody to octave runs. Kevin DuChane’s drums groovilating yet presenting variation. Saxophone played as needed. Sax player Tony Greene added visual interest by frequently dancing on stage when he wasn’t playing.
