In many ways it was a homecoming,. The Restless Age’s home base is Marlboro where they have a recording studio. Drummer Lee Falco is the own er of The Falcon as well. All 3 members of the band are Hudson Valley Natives and have toured with Donald Fagen (Steely Dan), Kate Pierson (B52s), recorded music for Korean TV shows and have recorded with countless others as a trio or as individuals. Most recently, Brandon has toured with Sam Smith.

The trio truly operates as a team, sharing vocal duties and harmonies, changing instruments , playing both acoustically and electrically. Echoing the musical influences of the Hudson Valley and absorbing the influences of the music passing through both old and new.

Lee Falco‘s most obvious influence is Levon Helm, who was famed drummer/vocalist of the Band, known for his syncopated rhythms and heartfelt vocals.

Will Bryant’s keyboard playing brings the recently departed Garth Hudson to mind. Deep spacey organlike tones, to nimble piano runs exuding all aspects of Americana.

Brandon Morrison probably has the greatest pop influence in his instrumental sound. A truly melodic bass line influenced by the sounds of the 70s he grew up with, with his parents.

This combination provided an originally entertaining harmonius sound that was well recieved by the crowd. Guitarist Mark Meadows sat in on much of the set, providing additional color whether on acoustic or electric guitar.

The combination of originals and well known covers blended seamlessly in the set. These covers ranged from the Beatles, Joni Mitchell, Beach Boys and the Allman Brothers. A matter of fact , “Midnight Rider” was inserted in the middle of “Only In Darkness” as a quick aside.

Opening act that was premiering at the Falcon was Here Jenny who played all originals including their recent single release “Morning Train”. The band shows considerable influence from Neil Young,

A truly entertaining evening for the full house.
