Sister Sadie has been gracing Bluegrass with their fierce, yet sweet, sound for well over a decade. Their harmonies are tight. The lyrics brutally truthful and cut to the bone. This band has gone through a few growing pains but what remains is solid gold. These pickers are dialed in. I have seen a few versions of this band over the years, but what we have now is a really special collective of talent and intensity that is unmatched. Sunday night’s performance at Caffe Lena in Saratoga Springs, NY was no exception.

As life goes on… So does the music. Forever flowing into new waters, if I had to guess I would bet this prolific group will be getting us a whole new album sometime in 2026, though there is no official news yet.

Sister Sadie has been nominated for a Grammy not once, but twice. Within their specific genre of Bluegrass, as a whole and individual band members have won multiple IBMA (International Bluegrass Music Association) awards, including Vocal Group of the Year, Female Vocalist (Jaylee Roberts), Fiddle Player (Deanie Richardson) of the Year… I could go on. Last September, Rainy Maitke (mandolin)was awarded the IBMA Momentum Award. The band was just signed with Down the Road Records.

THE BAND: Gena Britt (banjo, vocals), Deanie Richardson (fiddle), Jaelee Roberts (guitar, lead vocals), Dani Flowers (guitar, vocals), Rainy Miatke (mandolin, vocals) AND Katie Blomarz-Kimball (bass, vocals)
