A special post Valentine comedy show was thrown on February 15th, 2025, at Lark St Tavern in Albany, NY. ‘My Funny Valentine’ was produced by Albany Comedy and all the proceeds were given directly back to the organization to help continue to bring laughter to the 518 area.
The venue is an essential part of the local comedy scene. The fun and chill spot welcomes comedians with open arms by providing two weekly Open Mics on Thursdays and Sundays at 7pm. They also are notorious for having comedy shows multiple times a month.
The showcase line-up consisted of Juan Pantaleon (host), Bri Morrison, Ryan Shipley, Vivian Davis, Kay Goutos (me), Twon Wood, and Padrick Smith. Juan’s likeable and funny vibe set the tone for a wonderful night of fun. He was followed by Bri, whose puns and quick wit got the crowd laughing and comfortable for some darker, one-liner jokes by Ryan. Vivian joined the crew from New Hampshire and brought a refreshingly hysterical set to the table. I was quite intimated to follow such a killer set but was pleasantly surprised by how ready the crowd was to laugh. I was able to deliver a proper set which set up Twon nicely. His polished and impressive material was received well by the audience. Padrick finished the night off strong with his edgier jokes that he tends to deliver with such detail that they feel story-like. Overall, the show was a total hit and the crowd of over 20 people were happy they braved the snowstorm for it.
A merch table of Albany Comedy shirts and stickers was also set up so that people could further support our mission, and everyone was encouraged to follow us on social media so they could keep up on our future endeavors. Check out our linktr.ee: linktr.ee./albanycomedy
Albany Comedy plans to throw more shows like this one all over the Capital Region with a rotating line-up of the local comedians, providing more opportunities for hard-working comics and spreading the unique artform.
