Albany Comedy presented a wonderfully joyous evening on Saturday, January 25th, 2025 at the Moon and River Cafe in Schenectady, NY. The free show was produced by Schenectady based comedian and improviser, David Britton.
The quaint spot was just about packed out with 16 ready-to-laugh audience members. The ambience of the cafe was perfect for an intimate comedy show. Comfy chairs and couches accompanied by local arts and homemade goods really set the scene for a cozy night of laughter.
The performers of the evening each brought a unique energy to the showcase. The line up was; David (host), Kay Goutos (me), J. Connolly, Kailey Strafford, and headliner ‘Ted, an Impressionist’. David’s lovable energy set the show up to have a feel good vibe right off the bat. It was followed by my edgier jokes right into J’s outrageous yet relatable humor. Kailey delivered powerfully funny jokes and handed it off to ‘Ted, an Impressionist’, who capped the night with a funny, light-hearted set full of silly impressions.
The crowd, full of older and younger generations, was noticeably cheerful and happy to be present. They were accepting of the comedians poking a little fun at some of them throughout their performances. Even the man behind the counter, Londo, couldn’t help but crack-up the entire evening. It’s safe to say everyone had a great night!
This was David’s 2nd successful show at Moon and River Cafe. The owners are so content with how they are going that they have decided to give him a monthly show. You can catch them on the 3rd Saturday of every month starting March 2025.
David is currently deep in the rehearsal process of Murder Cafe’s improv play ‘Rodney & Juliet’. This play is his and fellow director/friend Tom Roberts’ spin on the classic ‘Romeo & Juliet’. The talented cast is sure to bring you a funny and great production!
