Shred The Runway hosted by the SHRED Foundation was a powerful display of what can happen when fashion is used to bring people together for a good cause.
Proctor’s Theatre in Schenectady, NY hosted the immersive fashion show fundraiser on January 18th , 2025. The event combined a cool mix of wintery ambient visuals, live performance art, and of course, fashion.
Artistic elements, including a birch tree archway at the runway entrance, large-scale ambient projections, a live sculptural centerpiece created in the reception area, and a live DJ, seamlessly came together to craft an enchanting experience.
Opening remarks were spoken by Danny Hairston Jr, the founder of the SHRED Foundation.
He explained the mission of this foundation is to help the children of Albany gain access to snowboarding and skateboarding. These skills transfer into life skills, because not being afraid to fail is a hallmark of success.
Snowboarding, if not most winter sports, are notoriously expensive to access. As attendees were enjoying the show, donations were flooding in to help provide gear, lift tickets, and lessons. You can make your own donation and learn more by clicking here.
Outfitted by popular snowboarding company Burton, a heartwarming addition to the show featured some of the actual children that have been helped by SHRED.
As the kids strutted on the runway dressed in Burton’s 2025-2026 outerwear collection, family members and the audience cheered them on. It was a true atonement to the confidence this foundation has given them.
