In this lens review, we check out the Sigma 35mm f/1.4 Art DG HSM Lens for Canon EF mount cameras. We tested the lens in multiple scenarios to see if the lens is worth buying! This lens is a much cheaper option compared to Canon’s EF 35mm f/1.4 lens and still provides incredible results. Sigma Art lenses have a reputation of producing sharp images and this lens does not let down.

We tested this lens on both a Canon 5D Mkiii and Canon R5 and it’s safe to say that even though this is a lens meant for DSLR cameras, it performs very well on Canon’s mirrorless cameras as well. This is a prime lens and prime lenses are great options if you are looking for something that performs well in low light scenarios or looking for that creamy bokeh.

The Sigma 35mm f/1.4 Art DG HSM Lens was released back in 2013 and comes with a lens hood. A downside of the lens is that it has no image stabilization built in so you have to rely on your camera’s in-body image stabilization if it has that feature. Also, it has no weather sealing and the focus ring is not the greatest. If you can get past these issues, we can assure you that this lens is worth the money.

When using the lens on the Canon R5, the auto focus was snappy while taking photos and performed well in video mode. We decided to do a full video review which you can check out below:
