The hot and humid weather had finally broken. In spite of this, music of Jazz on Jay was a family friendly journey to the tropics of Brazil.

Singer Maggie MacDougall enthusiastically lead her trio of musicians through a relaxing 90 minute set. She sang in both English and Portugese, sometimes scatting during some of the instrumental breaks.

Maggie is living proof that it is never too late to embark upon a dream. Although she sat in on many a jam session, her first professional gig was when she was nearly 70.

The final concert of Jazz on Jay will be on 8/29. The 2023 Eddy Award winner, Joe Barna’s Sketches of Influence will perform. Hope to see you then.
