Rock The Dock Music Festival returned over the weekend on July 13th for the most successful edition to date! Thousands made their way to the Lake George Steamboat Company in Lake George, NY for a night full of jams and good times.
Headlining this year was jamtronica legends Lotus who brought party vibes and fun improvised music. Kicking off the day was Quantum Cosmic which featured all of Annie in the Water plus guitarist Ted Grey(Raisinhead) which set the tone for the day. In between each set on the main stage, Neon Avenue played brief sets of Grateful music to keep the crowd alive throughout the day.
Local favorites Formula 5 made their return to Rock The Dock for the first time since 2019. Originally, they were the host band for the festival up until their hiatus. But to see them back in their hometown was easily one of the highlights of the day. The band sounded seasoned and featured original members Bill Shattuck and Mike McDonald. They even dusted off “Breaking Glass” for the first time since 2019.
Wild Adriatic performed a high energy rock set and it was also great to see them back playing. It was a nice break from the long extended jams and was a chance to bang your head. Speaking of banging your head, Dopapod brought up Tim Palmeri of Lotus for a ripping cover of “Sweet Leaf” and was the big highlight of the set. It was nice to see them perform in the north country before the band goes on their indefinite hiatus at the turn of the year.
Rock The Dock Music Festival is one of the most unique festivals in all of New York due to its layout, the opportunity to go on any of the steamboats and also being located right at the foot of Lake George. We can easily say that the festival is here to stay and has become a staple in the northeastern jam scene.
