Anacortez caught my attention in a big way the first time I heard their cover of the classic deftones song My Own Summer (Shove It). I was blown away, not only by the ferocity of the guitars and the kick-you-in-the-face drums on the song, but by the nuance of the lyrics. Jessie’s voice went from ultra-quiet whisper to raging scream with such a fluency that I would put her performance on par with nearly any national act. No lie. I had Jessie and Mike over to the Dazzle Den, where we talked about their history with music, and how the band came to formed. We also play a few Anacortez songs, including the cover of deftones. So, crank it up and enjoy Episode 113 with Jessie and Mike of Anacortez.

A Little About Unsigned518:

A podcast dedicated to putting a spotlight on bands and musicians in the 518 area. Created, Produced and Hosted by Andy Scullin of ShortWave RadioBand.

Each Tuesday, Andy sits down with a musician or band from the 518 (or close by) and they have a completely unplanned discussion about music, or whatever else happens to come up.

Think of it as less of an interview and more of a conversation.

New to Unsigned518 is the Weekend Spotlight. Released every Thursday, the Weekend Spotlight is a supplemetal episode that gives you just a taste of the events happening in the 518. Weekend Spotlight also plays a couple of songs from 518 bands or musicians that have shows that weekend.
