Gallery: The Hives and Olivia Jean at The Sinclair in Cambridge, MA
The Hives don’t come to America very often, but when they do they leave nothing but destruction in their path. They pulled into Cambridge, MA and played a very tight 70 minutes of no nonsense rock and roll that whipped the crowd into a frenzy that included mosh-pit and stage divers. Howlin’ Pelle Almqvist jumped around, went into the audience, and flung his mic to the ceiling throughout the show while the rest of the band never stopped rocking. He also had plenty of fun stage banter to get the crowd moving and singing along. There is no rest at a show by The Hives and you’re just as wiped out as the band is when it’s all over. When a show goes that hard you can’t help but smile and be thankful you were there to witness it. Olivia Jean opened the show with a fantastic set of garage rockers that was the perfect place setting for The Hives. The foursome was extremely tight and surely made new fans as many showed up early for the set.
