Mihali of Twiddle made his way to the Alive at 5 concert series in Albany, NY bringing along his solo band and even a horn section. The night kicked off with local act Side B who knew how to make full use of the big stage by playing a bunch of originals and also had a unique cover selection.
The band comprised of Ian Justino, Eric Mitchell, AJ Horton and Dylan Travison have that young energy with the sound of a seasoned band that has been playing for years. Their sound as a group stands out and they take chances. An example of this is just in their showmanship. Towards the end of their set, guitarist AJ Horton left the stage to go and perform some solos right in the crowd. It is stuff like this that makes a band prevail and let’s just say, the future of the Capital Region music scene is in good hands.
After, Jeff Morad, Mayor Kathy Sheehan and Pete Mason took the stage to greet the fans, it was time for Mihali. It was nice to see what seemed to be a thousand people show up for his solo performance supporting the incredible guitarist on his journey. Not only did he play all Mihali originals, we also got treated to some Bob Marley and Stone Temple Pilots material. To say those two bands in one sentence just goes to show the diversity of what the guy can play.
