Recap: Eastbound Jesus & Zan and the Winterfolk Celebrate 30 years of Brown’s Brewing at Revolution Hall

Saturday night, February 25th, Eastbound Jesus proved, once again, that they have one of the most dedicated fan bases in the region. There were several other shows in the area, it was snowing outside, and the temps were in the teens — but Eastbound Jesus’ fans still showed up to Revolution Hall in Troy, NY and they showed up in force. The band played two sets in celebration of Brown’s Brewing Company’s 30th anniversary.
It was my first time attending a show at Revolution Hall aka Brown’s Brewing Company in Troy, NY. With their gorgeous wooden décor, balcony, and absolutely delightful staff — it won’t be my last. For many reasons, it has already become one of my favorite venues in the area. If you haven’t been there, I highly recommend you check it out immediately.
Zan & the Winterfolk kicked things off. This female-fronted band was a surprise — just when I think I have met all the ladies in the area, another one pops up and it made my whole night. Their unique blend of Americana and folk music was as delightful as the lead singer herself. Don’t worry, if you missed this set, they have several dates coming up including a Joni Mitchell Tribute at Cohoes Music Hall. They also have a new album due out this year.
Eastbound Jesus was also celebrating 10 years of their album ‘Northern Rock’. 10 years ago, the band had their album release party at Revolution Hall for it and it was cool to see them honor it over the weekend. The most notable thing about this amazing band, aside from their music, is their dedicated fan base. The entire crowd knows every single lyric to every single song that they do and it is an absolute delight.
If you happen to have missed this show, don’t worry. Eastbound Jesus plays locally quite often, and of course, I can’t ignore their annual festival — the Eastbound Throwdown. This year’s festival is set to take place September 8th and 9th at Irwin Farm in Salem, NY. Stay tuned for more information.
