Hot Buttered Rum making a two-fold announcement Thursday–a new song and 2023 “Spring Meltdown” Tour dates. HBR kicks things off this weekend with previously announced performances at Point Arena and Arcata, California. Among the newly announced shows, a four-show Colorado run and a four-show Northwest run, then heading down the Pacific Coast towards Southern California where the band will wrap the tour.
In addition to the new tour dates, HBR announces the release of a new song, “Simple Story”.
“’Simple Story’ is about the stories we tell ourselves,” explains band co-founder, Nat Keefe. “In myself, I notice the desire to fit events of my life into a narrative, for instance: ‘I am THIS kind of person so when THAT happened it meant X, Y and Z.’ These kind of constructs can be useful, but I try to not mistake them for what is real. There’s a different agenda at work here… A great writer named Pema Chodron really brought this home for me. She said that things are rarely the tidy story we tell ourselves, it’s usually more complex and changing. Myself.”
