Stereolab brought their 2022 tour to Boston’s Roadrunner and were in peak form, as the run is slowly coming to an end. The 15 song show covered 12 of the band’s albums and compilations, truly covering their entire career so far. Lætitia Sadier and Tim Gane of course were the focal points of the band all night, but watching the five piece crush song after song was tremendous. There aren’t any bands out there that sound like Stereolab, with their mix of 60’s pop, avant-garde, and dance grooves, and they have the whole crowd moving all night making it feel like a discotheque. Adding to that feeling were openers Fievel Is Glauque, an international conglomerate who move through genres like breathing air. Their mix of jazz, indie rock, prog rock, and dance music was fantastic. The band’s set had an amazing amount of songs fit into their 45 minute set, with so many short ones you would think they were a punk rock band from the 70’s. Stereolab couldn’t have picked a better opener for these shows and hopefully they continue this reunion next year.
