Gallery: My Morning Jacket and Joy Oladokun at Leader Bank Pavilion
My Morning Jacket brought their brief September tour to Boston’s Leader Bank Pavilion Thursday night and proceeded to burn the tent to the ground. The over two hour set spanned 20 songs and had the crowd going wild the entire time. This was their first stop in Boston proper in a long time and they came out of the gates swinging with “Wasted”, “Anytime”, and “X-Mas Curtain”. It’s been great watching them change up their setlists a lot and Boston seemed to get a few deep cuts. Smiles were plastered on everyone’s face as they sang along, jumped around, and high-fived one another. This is easily one of the best bands touring today and it’s great to see they have a renewed energy to them. Joy Oladokun opened with a tight 30 minute set with many of the songs of her great In Defense of My Own Happiness as well as a great cover of Nirvana’s “Smells Like Teen Spirit” coming out of her own “I See America”. She is always a pleasure to see and it’s great that My Morning Jacket have her out on this run.
