The Captain Hosts a Cornhole Tournament at Sully’s East in Glens Falls, NY

Writer: The Captain

Once again, I’m operating under the pretense that our average follower can read titles. Frankie and I are a lot of things. Entrepreneurs, alcoholics, students of the film game, handsome devils, the list goes on. We’re also, as of three-ish weeks from this article’s release date, getting ready to co-parent a music festival together. As part of some of the costs we didn’t calculate because we’ve, you know, never done this before, we have taken on random ventures to make sure we put on a festival worth paying for. Cue random fundraising events. At Sully’s East, a fixture of Glens Falls bar life, we decided to host a cornhole tournament.

Not gonna lie to everyone here, I was worried that people weren’t going to show up and that I made two posterboard tournament brackets for nothing, but people trickled in about an hour after I told people to get there. For the sake of having a tournament bracket of an even eight people, I called in a friend I met through my time in Glens Falls bars to come through and have some fun. Imagine my surprise when the bastard wins both the singles and doubles tournaments. The dude was the only person to wear a fuckin’ cornhole jersey, which should be every hint of foreshadowing anyone needs.

Tyler Dalbey went on a reign of terror in short time, and made short work of the rest of the bracket. In exchange for coming in last minute, Tyler managed to win not one but TWO Sully’s East gift cards, a ticket to Wild in the Trees, and a really nicely drawn posterboard bracket I made just for the occasion.

In all seriousness, I can’t thank everyone enough for coming by. For being nothing shy of a last minute bullshit tournament, we managed to raise 290 dollars toward an equally bullshit festival. Depending on when you read this, you may have missed the second one we’re doing Sunday, September 11th at noon, which if you miss it, I’m sorry. Equally last minute, equally bullshit, and equally fun… hopefully.
