Franz Ferdinand kicked off the work week by coming to Boston’s House of Blues with a blistering set. The band, who is celebrating their 21st anniversary this year with a greatest hits album, Hits to the Head, that included two new songs “Curious” and “Billy Goodbye”, both played at the show. Having seen this band for 17 years, through various line up changes, and new musical influences coming in and out, it’s stunning to see how great Franz Ferdinand still is. The crowd never stopped dancing and singing a long all night, something Alex Kapranos mentioned near the end of the show with a big grin on his face. There was even a last second setlist change during the encore since someone on the barricade’s name was Jackqueline and Alex said well here we go and went into a blistering version followed by show closer “This Fire”. Vundabar opened the show with a quick set of rockers that the crowd loved. The Boston based trio threw in some local jokes, nods, and winks to the area and will be back shortly on their own headlining tour.
