Rock The Dock Music Festival in Lake George, NY returned for the first time since 2019 making huge strides and proving that this festival is the next big festival in New York State. It all takes place on the beautiful grounds of the Lake George Steamboat Company with many amenities including the option to watch live music from any of the 3 steamboats that surround the main and side stages.

Galactic was originally set to headline this year’s Rock The Dock Music Festival but couldn’t make it due to a band member getting into a serious car accident. With only 36 hours before the festival was set to take place, Vermont jam band Twiddle saved the day. The stacked lineup also included Annie in the Water, Glass Pony, O-Man and the Night Trippers, Chestnut Grove and Raisinhead.

From the time doors opened until everyone had to leave, music took place all day without a stop. Fans were also treated to a wealth of vendors both food and craft. The music was on point all day with many highlights including a sit in from Mihali of Twiddle during Annie in the Water’s set. Another incredible moment was when Formula 5’s Joe Davis and Matt Richards sat in with Twiddle on “Brown Chicken Brown Cow” proving that the “5” still have the chops. The real MVPs of the day were Chestnut Grove who played 4 unique sets keeping the groove going all night long. The music never stopped once Twiddle’s set ended. It was now time for the reunion of the original Formula 5 lineup at The Lagoon for the official Rock the Dock After Party.

Easily one of the most anticipated moment of the night, Mike McDonald, Joe Davis, Greg Marek and Bill Shattuck stepped back on stage to perform original music from the first two Formula 5 albums. It was a magical moment that we have all been waiting for for nearly three years. That being said, it is incredible to see these guys make new ways for themselves either playing in other groups and focusing on bettering their own lives.

Why is Rock The Dock Music Festival the next big festival in the New York State? The fans came out in waves and there is no other set up that compares to what the Lake George Steamboat has to offer.
