Snapped Ankles played a wild and late night this past weekend in Somerville on their first ever USA tour. Seeing one of their shows is like being transported into a different reality. With the clocks changing later that night, the whole evening was surreal. Coming out in their masks, turning the venue green, and singing about Forests, it truly felt like we were in the middle of nowhere. The band’s post-punk danceable music had the crowd craving all they could get. Gloin played right before them and won the crowd over with a set of music that mixed psychedelia, punk, noise, and electronica into a wave of music that overtook your ears. With a pulsating light show to go with the songs, the whole set made you think you were in an underground dancehall. Muzzins started the show with a set that evoked the B-52’s and early punk rock. They were the perfect opener for the evening that was to come.
