The New Orleans Jazz & Heritage festival has been cancelled for the second year in a row due to COVID-19 concerns. Set for this October, the (usually) annual event has been rescheduled to April 29-May 8, 2022.

According to their statement, the decision was made “as a result of the current exponential growth of new COVID cases in New Orleans and the region.” The delta variant has been wreaking havoc on populations across the country, particularly those who remain unvaccinated.

According to the CDC, the county of Orleans Parish has seen a 15.33 percent increase in cases over the past week as of Monday, Aug. 9. The 7-day total of cases is 2,279 patients with 12 deaths. The data also reads that about 60 percent of the county is vaccinated.

The festival team has urged “everyone to follow the guidelines and protocols put forth by public health officials” to keep from postponing the fest yet again.

The announcement also reads “Ticket holders for both Festival weekends (including those that rolled over their tickets from 2020) will receive an email this week with details about the ticket refund and rollover process. All Wednesday, October 13 tickets will be automatically refunded.”

The cancelled 2021 fest was slated to include artists like The Rolling Stones, Dead & Company, Stevie Nicks, Foo Fighters, Jimmy Buffett, Lizzo, H.E.R., Brandi Carlile, Norah Jones, The Beach Boys, Ludacris, Trombone Shorty & Orleans Avenue, Jon Batiste, Wu-Tang Clan feat. The Soul Rebels, Ziggy Marley, Elvis Costello, The Revivalists and more. Let’s hope they stick around for next year.
