Celebrated pianist and singer-songwriter Ben Folds announced his upcoming “In Actual Person Live For Real Tour,” a series that will include solo piano as well as orchestral performances. This includes his three-day stay in Dallas (Oct. 22-24) with the Dallas Symphony Orchestra, Portland performance (Nov. 10) with the Oregon Symphony and Atlanta show (Nov. 14) with the Atlanta Symphony.
The tour kicks off with a solo piano show at the Appell Center for Performing Arts in York, PA on Aug. 27. The majority of the tour will be solo piano performances, as well. Fans may expect some surprises from Folds on his upcoming tour, as he’s kept characteristically busy while quarantined far from home. The artist was on tour in Australia in February 2020, when COVID-19 shut down international travel and further touring, so he’s been living and working there since.
While down under, Folds launched a podcast series, Lightning Bugs: Conversations with Ben Folds. He released his similarly titled memoir A Dream About Lightning Bugs: A Life of Music and Cheap Lessons back in 2019. Like many other artists over the past year, Folds continued performing live stream concerts and interacted with fans via his Patreon page. Additionally, he composed new music and prepared for the launch of a new TV series, which has yet to be announced.
Ticket sales for most shows (see below for exclusions) on the “In Actual Person Live For Real Tour” will open May 21 at 10 a.m. Pre-show VIP packages for select performances will also be available. Visit benfolds.com/tour-dates for more information. See below for full tour dates:
