Guthrie Bell Productions brought Marco Benevento to the Cohoes Music Hall to celebrate the release of his new album Let it Slide and let’s just say, things got a little funky. Last night was the third stop of Marco’s Record Release Tour which has dates scheduled throughout the United States until early February — including a stop in Japan.

Mikaela Davis kicked things off with a refreshingly unique twist — a frontwoman playing the harp. The instrument was as surprising and unexpected as the sounds coming from this group.

Dressed all in white and sporting his usual brand of shades and swagger, Marco Benevento took the stage in the most dramatic possible way to the sounds of White Lines playing overhead. The bass guitarist, Karina Rykman, carries the entire string section on her shoulder with ease. She’s so deft with those strings, you never miss another guitar on stage not to forget, Dave Butler on drums holds the entire thing together like glue.

They played songs from the new album as well as old favorites and somehow, every single track was catchy, engaging, and fun. Combining a lengthy schedule and a recently released album, this band is on that stage having a blast. Every member on stage absolutely loves what they’re doing and it’s as obvious as it is infectious. Check out Marco Benevento’s upcoming tour dates here and if you get the chance, this is a show you aren’t going to want to miss.
