4th Annual Rocky Mountain Tree Festival: The Planting & The Party

The Rocky Mountain Tree Festival was created in 2015 as a way to bring the community together for a restoration project to keep Colorado beautiful. This annual festival provides volunteers with opportunities to be hands on and give back to Mother Earth, as well as a celebration of community with live music.

The Rocky Mountain Tree Festival will be hosting two volunteer tree planting events in partnership with Volunteers for Outdoor Colorado and Denver Parks and Recreation on Saturday, September 21. The one day goal is to plant up to 4,000 trees, shrubs and woody plants in urban areas spanning Central and North Denver. The sites chosen for the project are in need of restoration and reforestation.

After the day of planting, The Rocky Mountain Tree Festival continues at their signature fundraising concert at Levitt Pavilion in the Ruby Hill district of Denver, a non-profit open-air amphitheater owned and operated by Denver Parks and Rec. The concert kicks off at 5 P.M. with Colorado acts Jaden Carlson Band and 12 Cents For Marvin, followed by Everyone Orchestra at 7 P.M.

Jaden Carlson Band is a foursome from Boulder, led by eighteen-year old guitarist Jaden Carlson. Carlson is a guitarist, vocalist, keyboardist, and producer who at her young age has some impressive accomplishments; performing at Red Rocks Amphitheater at age 11 with Michael Franti and Spearhead and Blues Traveler. She has also had numerous sit-ins with Umphrey’s McGee, The Revivalists, Lettuce, and many others. Their style is described as “musical beauty mixed with rockin’ funk and jazz jams, inspirational lyrics and a mastery of the guitar guaranteed to blow you away.”

12 Cents For Marvin is an eight piece band from Fort Collins, delivering a high-grade blend of ska-infused pop, rock, and reggae. Formed in 1996 while the founding musicians were attending Colorado State University, 12 Cents For Marvin strives to produce music that everyone can appreciate. The band aspires to represent Colorado and spread their ska style to the world. They have been said to be “one well-oiled machine, they are an eight-cylinder ska engine, perfectly timed, working together.”

Everyone Orchestra is led by conductor and founder Matt Butler, who takes his all-star musician lineup on an improvisational journey. Butler is known for bringing together some of the most talented and diverse musicians to create an adventure not only for the audience, but also for the artists.  Everyone Orchestra can be seen at venues, festivals, theaters and philanthropic events nationally and abroad.  The energy of an Everyone Orchestra performance is unparalleled as the conductor, audience, and band members work together to create singular, completely original set of music.
