Millington’s “University” is Fresh, Relatable

The dudes in Millington (Cody Okonski, Brandon Rutski, Alex Maloy, Jon Bintz and Ryan Davis) have been hard at work lately. They recently competed in EQX’s Battle of the Bands at Skyloft, and today they’re releasing their single, “University”, a track they call their most ambitious single yet.

“University” is a great blend of pop-punk and ska, two genres that the band makes work extremely well together. The quintet’s different areas of expertise (with Okonski acting as the lead vocalist and bassist as well as the producer, Rutski on drums, Maloy on guitar, Bintz on trombone and Davis on tenor saxophone, respectively) mesh together in a way that makes their newest single one that is definitely a repeat listen.

Millington’s newest track drew inspiration from ska bands like Streetlight Manifesto and and The Interrupters as well as pop-punk powerhouses like The Wonder Years and Blink-182. If you’re a fan of TWY, Four Year Strong, ska and relatable lyrics with a personal feel, this song (and band) are definitely for you. Millington’s sound is fresh and fun, incorporating elements from all of their influences while having a style all their own.

“University” is available for streaming on Spotify and other platforms as of 8/16. Check out Millington on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
