Caribbean Crisis Drops New Album Mixing Punk and Russian Folk

(Writer: Frankie Cavone)

Albany based group Caribbean Crisis has released a brand new album titledĀ Last Delight fusing traditional Russian music and punk. This six track recording features a combination of English and Russian lyrics to go along with its folk melodies to help embellish their unique rock sound. What makes Caribbean Crisis different from the rest is that they use the Balalaika, a classic Russian instrument to blend the different cultural sounds that they are passionate about.

An interesting fact about their band name is that it is derived from a term used in Russia to describe the historical events which United States citizens refer to as the Cuban Missile Crisis. Caribbean Crisis uses their music to blend the two cultures to promote that we all can strive together! The band also wantsĀ “to prove that that old Russian traditional music can be as modern and appealing to people as any other pop music.” Listen to their new album below on Spotify today!
