Phish made their debut at the Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, CT last night playing their first of two nights at the casino. The Vermont quartet was coming off a two night extravaganza at Fenway Park in Boston leaving fans excited for the sold out run in Connecticut. Capacity for the night was 10,000 and was the second indoor venue of the tour.

The band started the night off with “Energy,” playing it for the first time since summer 2013 which was nearly a 230 show gap. The song was decently jammed out leading to a stellar “Weekapaug Groove.” Next up was “The Moma Dance” followed by a Paige McConnell driven “Maze.” “Petrichor” was chosen next which extented to almost 18 minutes long. Phish then decided to stay in the realm of Big Boat with “Things People Do which led into a crowd pleasing “Sample in a Jar.” Ending the first set was an explosive “Bathtub Gin” being one of the stand out jams of the night. During the jam, Chris Kuroda’s light rig stole the show finishing the set in a bang.

For set 2, Phish selected “Soul Planet” going into “Wider” off of Trey Anastasio’s Ghost of the Forest album making its debut. Then it was time for “Undermind” off the self titled album from 2009. This was another McConnell led groove which gave light to “The Final Hurrah” which featured a slight tease of “The Birds.” After face-planting into rokk from the Kasvot Växt tune, the band played a 17 minute “Beneath a Sea of Stars Part 1” marking the second Ghosts of the Forest song of the night.  A rocking “Ghost” was to follow into “Birds of a Feather” with both songs featuring modest jams. After, it was time for “Waste” which had the sold out crowd singing along. To end the second set, the band dropped a high energy “Golgi Apparatus.”

When the band came back on for the encore, Trey Anastasio asked the crowd if they were in a rush to get home which got the crowd roaring with the obvious answer being no. Phish chose “Foam” for the first song of their encore which hasn’t been played since the group’s Bakers Dozen run at Madison Square Garden in 2017. Then, the band followed with “Contact” into “More” to end the show. With the three song encore, Phish played past midnight leaving much anticipation for night 2.
