Mad Magazine Will No Longer Be Releasing New Material After 67 Years

(Writer: Frankie Cavone)

After 67 years, Mad Magazine will stop production of new material for good. After August of this year, the beloved magazine featuring freckled friend Alfred E Neuman will no longer be available on newsstands according to DC Comics, the publisher of Mad Magazine. With the death of print becoming more imminent, it will be hard for magazines like this to stay alive. In 2013, The Onion stopped printing but has been able to adapt to younger generations with their hilarious videos.

In the early 1970’s, Mad Magazine was at its peak with having over 2 million people subscribed the magazine yearly. Since then, the number has dropped to just about 140,000 according to Smithsonian Magazine. As this news may be sad, Mad witll release end of the year special magazines which can still be subscribed to or found in comic book type stores.
