The 9th annual Disc Jam Music Festival took place over the weekend in Stephentown, NY with a stacked lineup from its start on Thursday all the way until Sunday’s closing sets. What is great about this music festival is that it brings in both acts big and small. The weekend had many stand out sets of music and with weather cooperating, it was almost a given that this years Disc Jam would be one to remember!

Concert attendees were allowed to start rolling into the festival Thursday afternoon leaving some time for people to set up and get ready for the first act of the weekend. The festival space was clean and some say that the bathrooms were the cleanest east of the Mississippi river . The four stages included the two main stages, a tent stage and the woods stage which hosted EDM acts and even silent disco! If you don’t know what silent disco is, well your in for a treat. Instead of hearing the music that the DJ was playing through big speakers, you listen to the music through headphones while watching the show. What makes it even more fun is not even listening to the music and watching all the people in front of the stage groove to music in complete silence.
Thursday’s festival bill featured a wealth of acts starting with Mom & Dad on the main stage featuring Neal “Fro” Evans and Chuck Jones from Dopapod follwed by Litz, Eggy, Of Clocks and Clouds, and much more. The headlining sets for that night included 2 sets from Aqueous and Lespecial followed by late night sets from Mihali of Twiddle and Circles Around the Sun.

After a long Thursday of amazing music along with getting your tent space set up, Friday presented another heavily stacked day of music. Friday featured Dopapod as the headliner. This was only their second show back since playing their reunion show back in April at the Capitol Theatre in Port Chester, NY. The set featured music from their latest album Emit Time along with fan favorites. They ended the set off with “Black and White” from their album Drawn Onward. Friday also featured sets from Ripe, a day set from Lespecial, Funky Dawgz Brass Band, The Floozies, Formula 5 and much more.
Over the next two days the festival was in full swing with sets from Lotus with Barber and friends which included a sit in from Tim Palmeri of Kung Fu, Papadosio, Sam Kinninger Band, Doom Flamingo and literally tons more. Aside from the music, there was a lot of great stuff happening on the festival grounds throughout the weekend making it a full experience for attendees. There was tons of vendors of all types with talented art work, delicious foods and even if you were feeling sore, there was a booth to get a massage to keep you dancing for days. The Disc Golf tournament took place on Saturday which was sponsored by Innova Disc Golf. The woods at Disc Jam was a great place to hold the competition due to the windy paths and unique locations throughout the campground. By the end of this long weekend, fans left the festival grounds happy and already excited for next years Disc Jam.
