Metallica Throws First Pitch and Plays National Anthem at San Fransisco Giants Game

Over the weekend, the San Fransisco Giants honored Bay Area veterans Metallica with their seventh annual “Metallica Night.” James Hetfield and Kirk Hammet played an amazing rendition of the “Star-Spangled Banner” on their guitars wearing Giants Jerseys prior to the start of the game versus the New York Yankees. Drummer, Lars Ulrich was given the honor of throwing the first pitch. Metallica has great roots and dedication to the city of San Fransisco. The band moved there during the early years when they wanted the late bassist Cliff Burton to join the group. Burton said he would only join the band if the whole group moved to the Bay Area. Hetfield and Ulrich met each other through a newspaper ad and stated that they were sick of the “Glam” rock scene in Los Angeles. Over 30 years later, Metallica has become one of the greatest metal bands of all time. Watch their performance of the “Star-Spangled Banner” below:
