Metallica Brings Their WorldWired Tour to Albany, NY

Metallica returned to back to Albany, New York on October 29th to the Times Union Center. The last time Metallica rocked Albany was back in 2009 on the Death Magnetic tour. This time, they are on their WorldWired tour visiting 34 cities that they have not been to in the past year and some they haven’t been to in decades. To get things going, the band brought Jim Breuer to the Capital Region with them and he got to have fun with fans prior to the show. Breuer brought up fans to test them on their Metallica knowledge. Once Breuer was finished having the crowd singing along to all time favorite metal tracks, it was time for Metallica.

Metallica went all out with their stage design this tour with the stage being places in the middle for viewing access no matter where you were sitting. The lights went dark and “The Ecstasy of Gold” played on the PA giving all the fans jittery for the music to start. Metallica opened up the night with “Hardwired” and “Atlas, Rise” off their latest album Hardwired…To Self-Destruct. Next the band played some favorites including “Seek & Destroy” and “Creeping Death.” It was great to see “Seek & Destroy” played earlier in the show and in its usual spot, the encore. Metallica then played  “Welcome Home (Sanitarium)” from the album Master of Puppets. Throughout the night the band played a well balanced show of new and old songs. Metallica played a 3 song encore starting with “Fight Fire With Fire” off Ride the Lightining, then slowing it down with “Nothing Else Matters” which led into “Enter Sandman” ending the night on a high note. It was great to see the band healthy and performing well back in Albany, New York.
