Influential and prominent hip-hop/rap artist was found dead at San Fernando Valley residence in California. He was only 26.

Miller, a Pittsburgh native, made his debut in the early years of the internet where he topped the charts with his independent release of  “Blue Slide Park” in 2011–it was the first indie album to do so in 16 years. The artist built a loyal cult following who related with his music. His death comes soon after his fifth full-length album “Swimming” released on August 3.

Miller has spoken on interviews of his struggles to prescription opiate cough syrup, and often rapped about his struggles with addiction and substance abuse amongst other darker themed lyrics.

A large part of the internet mourned the rappers sudden passing, as many fans and artist took to social media to  share their disbelief with the news. Some of those artist include Chance The Rapper, J. Cole and Wiz Khalifa.

I dont know what to say Mac Miller took me on my second tour ever. But beyond helping me launch my career he was one of the sweetest guys I ever knew. Great man. I loved him for real. Im completely broken. God bless him.
