Last week The Last Revel brought their back porch sound to the northeast. And we’re all better for it. What a great way to start the new year…
Wed. Jan 28 The Music Lounge, Portsmouth, NH
Thurs. Jan 29 The Iron Horse, Northampton, MA
Fri. Jan 30 Subaru Winterfest, Killington, VT
Sat Jan 31 The Zen Barn, Waterbury, VT
I got to attend the latter three shows. I love this band, but I always forget just how much until I get to see them again. Their energy for a live show is fun and magnetic no matter what space they’re playing in. I have seen them play… poolside in Vegas, from festival stages to dinner clubs. No matter the place the stage is theirs and they know it. Delivering their incredible song writing and between song antidotes, works as a kind of road map to the stories they tell. Their love and journeys played out like a song book to the heart with some big fish tales peppered in. The set lists are heavy with a healthy dose of originals, with a couple well chosen covers dropped in just the right spots.
I am always fascinated by the setlist development of any band. The craft and artistry of delivery is just as important as the songs themselves. No matter where they land on the list there are some songs I am just always thrilled to get (UhUm Sleepy Gary). I know when I hear the first few notes of my favorites that the next 3-4 minutes will be the kind of bliss that only live music can deliver to a soul.Â
