The Mallett Brothers Band is making a stop on tour to give Memorial Meltdown 2024 in Lake George, NY a taste of what they do best. A perfect blend of Americana rock, jam and alt county; The Mallett Brothers embody the good vibes you look for when you want something classic! Will Mallett had a few words with us before making their Memorial Meltdown debut; we are looking forward to hearing more from them.

Mirth Films: Seeing how you’re based in Maine, is this your first time in Lake George, NY?

Will Mallett: We’ve played in Lake George a handful of times over the years and it’s always been an absolute blast. A couple highlights have been opening up for Max Creek at Americade a couple years ago and opening up for Molly Hatchet a few years before that. Both epic, super memorable nights. It’s a beautiful town and we can’t wait to get back!

Mirth Films: Who are you most excited to see at Memorial Meltdown?

Will Mallett: That’s a tough one! I have personally never seen Dispatch and I’m super excited to be on a bill with those guys, legends. We have played with Mihali and Annie in the Water and they’re both phenomenal, and we’re excited to see Ryan Montbleau; really, everyone on the bill is awesome and we’re pumped.

Mirth Films: You guys are just coming off spring tour, how was that and what’s to follow?

Will Mallett: Tour is always a blast but this spring it was extra fun. We did the usual Northeast stops along with some shows down south in North Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia, and it was a beautiful time to get down there with the dogwoods blooming while we still had snow at home in Maine, haha. The fellas have been playing great lately though and we’ve just been having a lot of fun these days.

Mirth Films: While we’re on the topic of touring, do you have any tips for traveling?

Will Mallett: Local coffee shops are always a great way to start the day off on a cool foot; state parks or any way to get into nature if there’s a day off somewhere; good food, like, for example, sushi lunch specials can feed the band for about the same price as fast food, always a good move; and ya know take a back road once in a while.

Mirth Films: If you could describe your sound in 3 words what would they be?

Will Mallett: Rootsy + rock + fiddle

Mirth Films: Who are some of your musical inspirations?

Will Mallett: They’re all over the map and there’s so much good music coming out these days, but classic American rock and roll and folk music are at the root of it. Bob Dylan, CCR, our dad David Mallett; and then classic country and bluegrass, jam bands, Scandinavian stoner rock – all that stuff.

Mirth Films: Lastly, How many of you are actually brothers?

Will Mallett: Two of us, me and my big bro Luke! The rest are all “brothers of the road” as we say.
