On a blustery fall evening in Albany, New York, folks filled in to the Egg for an evening of Bluegrass. Yonder Mountain String Band has been at it for over 25 years. They’re the OG’s when is comes to Jamgrass and there has been no slip in their program despite a few member changes over the years…
Currently, Adam Aijala a Worcester, MA native on vocals and guitar, Dave Johnston rippin’ the banjo and sings, Ben Kaufmann holding it down on bass and vocals, Nick Piccininni (one of our very own, a New Yorker) mostly shreds mandolin and sings but is a multi instrumentalist and has been known to “fiddle fight” Coleman (It’s like a sword fight between fiddlers on the stage for the enjoyment of all bystanders. It’s great fun, induces feverish dancing and there’s no bloodshed.) And to round out YMSB, Coleman Smith absolutely crushing the fiddle. Each one of them legends in their own right.
