This band is a baby boomers’ mashed up dream. The combination of the loose imaginative meanderings of the Grateful Dead and the precision and quirky lyrics/melody of Steely Dan.
Lots of memories were conjured up with the marriage of these 2 musical institutions. “Brooklyn (Owes the Charmer under Me)”, “AJA”, “Kid Charlemagne”,”My Old School “, “Sho Biz Kids” and “Rikki Don’t Lose that Number on the Steely side. “Althea”, “Casey Jones”, “Truckin”, “Minglewood Blues”, “Sugar Magnolia”, “China Cat Flower” on the Dead side.
Vocals were shared by the band.
Dave Aber-Expertly weaved his way through complex guitar leads and rhythm. Emulating but not imitating Jerry Garcia and Bob Weir, as well as Denny Dias, Larry Carlton et. al.
Swinging yet precise bass of Matt Aber was in lock with drummer Chris Sheldon.
Dylan Tefer to my ears was the true musical wizard of the group, getting many different sounds and tones emulating the sounds of strings and brass from his electronic keyboards,
Even though there were occasional breaks taken, the music flowed together in one continuous set. The band has been together since 2019, continuously touring in their native Colorado and taking their show on the road since 2020.
Thank you to Jennifer and Justin Miller for hosting this event. Lark Hall is a great space to dance, sit or just hang out and dig the music.
